Dr. Sonja L. Allen is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Associate Professor Nursing and CEO of Well Woman. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She earned her BSN from Georgia State University in 2001 and her MSN in Nursing Education from Drexel University in 2005. Upon graduating with her BSN, she immediately began her residency at Northside Hospital, on the High-Risk Perinatal Unit. With over 15 years of clinical experience in women’s health, realizing her desire to educate and teach future nurses, Dr. Allen began her career in higher academia. Specializing in maternal & child health, she has had the opportunity to teach in a variety of settings. Dr. Allen has also traveled abroad to South Africa and Australia where she served as Nursing advisor for collegiate students interested in nursing & healthcare in other countries. She is passionate about issues affecting minority women's health and pregnancy outcomes. She is the CEO/Founder of Well Woman LLC, a company created to fill the void in care and education of Black and minority women. Dr. Allen works in her community as a provider for underinsured and uninsured patients, many from marginalized groups. Her desire is to meet people where they are and provide compassionate care and support while doing so. Sonja has been married to her college sweetheart Jay for 26 years, with whom she’s raised 3 amazing sons (Jaylen, Sam, Dylan). She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau honor society of nursing, American Association of Nurse Practitioners and a proud member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Her favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” A motto she lives by: service to others is the rent you pay for your room on earth ~Muhammed Ali
